When we look at the north end of the cross, we are reminded to look UP to the One who was lifted up.

Big Idea: Receiving and extending the love of Christ.
This week Pastor Curtis talked about the horizontal part of the cross, or the "patibulum". The outstretched arms of Jesus carried the weight of the world and reminds us of His mercy.

Big Idea: There is power in knowing.
Pastor Curtis shared that eternity is both a place and a condition. Some receive God's love and others reject it, but He loves nonetheless. His love can torment sinners, while at the same time, delight those who have lived in accord with it. Some people will experience Hell; not because God is angry with them, but because they have chosen it. God's desire is that none shall perish.

In the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, the problem was not so much the wealth of the rich man or the health of Lazarus. It was where their hearts were. The choices on this side of the shore will determine the condition on the other side of the shore.
